What is (generalist) nursing education?

The training to become a nursing specialist is the merger of the training programs “geriatric nursing”, “health care and nursing” and “health care and pediatric nursing”.

Trainees will be equipped to care for people of all ages in all care settings. This is called generalist nursing education.

Within the training, you get to know different areas of care. These areas of care include assignments in long-term care, acute hospital settings, as well as psychiatric care. Likewise, the area of care for children and adolescents is covered.

At the end of the second third of training, one chooses a focus of care.

After their training, trained nurses are responsible for the professional care of their patients, residents and/or clients.
